MORRIS ARBORETUM TREEHOUSE (PHILADELPHIA, PA) 2009Wheelchair accessible (American with Disabilities Act compliant) treehouse for the University of Pennsylvania's Morris Arboretum. Designed by Metcalfe Architecture & Design and built while working with Forever Young Treehouses. Scope included a giant bird's nest woven from two linear miles of cedar boughs, bent laminate oak trellis entryway, and a cherry timberframe. NAY AUG PARK TREEHOUSE (SCRANTON, PA) 2007Universally accessible treehouse in Nay Aug park designed by Eyrich Stauffer. Worked as one of many craftspeople on the crew of the now-defunct Forever Young Treehouses, a Vermont-based non-profit. ARIZONA-SONORA DESERT MUSEUM TREEHOUSE (TUCSON, AZ) 2008Universally accessible treehouse at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. With a grant from the US Department of Labor, Forever Young Treehouses trained youth from the Fred G. Acosta Job Corps Center in various building and trade skills while completing this project both on time and within budget. EARTHEN STRUCTURE FOR THE WHISPERING SEED (THAI/BURMA BORDER) 2008Using concepts gleaned from an arches, vaults, and domes workshop in India, we organized/co-taught a natural building workshop at the Whispering Seed. The workshop was led by Seven Generations Natural Builders. Not only did we build a house at this home for orphaned and abused Burmese children, but the workshop also help raise unrestricted funds for the Whispering Seed. |
